He was chosen by Lebanon’s leaders to be the new Prime Minister because he got lots of support from the parliament. In fact, 84 out of 128 members voted for him! That’s more than half! 👍
In Lebanon, they have a special way of choosing their leaders. The Prime Minister is always a Sunni Muslim, like Nawaf Salam. The President is a Maronite Christian, and the Speaker of Parliament is a Shiite Muslim. This helps them share the power among different groups. 🤝
Nawaf Salam comes from a famous political family. His uncle, Saeb Salam, was Prime Minister many times before, and his cousin, Tammam Salam, was also Prime Minister from 2014 to 2016. Politics runs in his family! 🧬
