On Friday, in the beautiful city of Milan, leaders from China and Italy met to talk about how they can help each other grow and succeed. They launched a special report called the 2024 Development Report on Chinese Enterprises in Italy. This report is like a big book that tells us all about how Chinese companies are doing in Italy.
Mr. Yan Dong, the president of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Italy (that’s a group that helps Chinese businesses in Italy), said that Chinese companies are helping Italy in many ways, like creating jobs and paying taxes. Even though there have been some challenges, like complicated rules, they’re still doing great things!
The report looked at 92 Chinese companies in Italy and found out how they’re helping and what challenges they face. It’s the first time such a big study has been done!
Mr. Liu Kan, the Chinese Consul General in Milan (that’s like an important ambassador), said that China wants to grow peacefully and help the whole world, including Italy. He said they want to keep trading and making sure things like factories and deliveries work smoothly.
People from the Italian government, like Mr. Andrea Tabella, also said they are excited to work more with China. They believe that by working together, both countries can find new ways to grow and help each other.
Did you know? The Lombardy Region, where Milan is located, is super important for China-Italy relations. Over half of Chinese investments in Italy are in this region! And more than 60% of the Chinese companies surveyed want to invest even more there in the next three years!
The Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Italy was started in 2021 and has over 120 members! They work in all sorts of areas like finance, technology, and manufacturing.
About 150 people came to the event, including business leaders and government representatives from both countries. It shows how excited everyone is about working together!
