Israeli PM: 1974 UN-monitored Disengagement Agreement defunct

Israel’s Leader Says Old Peace Agreement with Syria Is Broken

Hey there! 😊 Have you heard about what’s happening between Israel and Syria?

Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, announced that an old peace agreement with Syria isn’t working anymore. This agreement, made in 1974, was supposed to keep a safe space between the two countries where no armies could go. It’s called a “buffer zone.” But now, he says it’s broken. 😲

Mr. Netanyahu visited a place called Mount Bental in the Golan Heights. From there, you can see into Syria! He went with the Defense Minister, Israel Katz. They talked about how things are changing because the Syrian government is having big problems. This could be a big opportunity for Israel, but it also brings new dangers. ⚠️

He said that Israel won’t let any hostile groups, like bad guys, take over the area near their border. So, he told the Israeli army to go into the buffer zone to keep it safe. 🛡️

Defense Minister Katz said they want to protect all the people living in the Golan Heights, both Jewish and Druze communities. The Druze are a special group with their own unique culture and religion. They live in Israel and other countries nearby.

Since last October, Israel has been more active in Syria. They say they’re targeting groups linked to Iran and Hezbollah. Hezbollah is a group in Lebanon that Israel has had conflicts with before.

Mr. Netanyahu hopes that one day, Israel and Syria can be good neighbors. Let’s cross our fingers for peace! ✌️
