Hey there! Did you know that China and the United States are two big countries that work together on lots of things? Recently, China’s Foreign Minister, Mr. Wang Yi, met with some important people from the United States to talk about their friendship.
China hopes that the new U.S. government will work together with them in a friendly way. Mr. Wang Yi said that China wants to keep a good relationship with the U.S., no matter what changes happen there.
He also mentioned that China wants to have a relationship based on “mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.” That means both countries respect each other, live peacefully, and help each other succeed!
China’s President, Mr. Xi Jinping, also talked about this with U.S. President Joe Biden during a meeting in Peru. They agreed that they want a healthy and stable relationship between their countries.
Mr. Wang Yi said it’s important for the U.S. to make good choices about their relationship with China. He hopes they can meet each other halfway, which means both sides make efforts to get along.
He also said that talking to each other is very important! Even if they can’t solve all the problems right away, talking helps them understand each other better and avoid misunderstandings.
Some topics are very important to China, like the Taiwan issue, which China considers part of its own country. China hopes the U.S. will respect their feelings about this.
Both countries think it’s important for their people to keep visiting each other and learning about each other. That’s why China welcomes people from the U.S. to come and visit!
The U.S. group, led by Ms. Susan Elliott from the National Committee on American Foreign Policy, said they want to help strengthen the friendship between China and the U.S. They believe that keeping good communication is important for the whole world!
Isn’t it cool how countries work together to make the world a better place? Maybe someday, you’ll be part of these important conversations too!
