Heavy rains impact thousands in southwest China's Yunnan Province

Heavy Rains Cause Trouble in Yunnan Province 🌧️

Hey kids! Have you ever watched the rain pour down outside your window? In southwest China’s Yunnan Province, it’s been raining a lot lately, and it’s causing some big problems!

Because of the heavy rain, thousands of people are having a tough time. In a place called Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, almost 6,000 people are affected! That’s like the number of students in many schools combined.

The rain has damaged houses and roads. Imagine 27 houses being broken and 16 bridges damaged or destroyed! Roads are blocked in 97 spots, making it hard for people to travel.

There are also some cool places in Yunnan that people like to visit, but they had to close for now. One of these is a scenic area and a sightseeing platform.

The good news is that no one has been hurt. Over 1,700 people have been moved to safer places.

In another area called Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, landslides and mudslides are blocking roads. Landslides happen when heavy rain makes the ground slide down hills and mountains. It’s a bit like when you build a sandcastle at the beach and it crumbles down.

The Meri Snow Mountain scenic zone had to close because of flash floods, which are sudden and strong floods. About 300 tourists were safely moved away.

Brave rescue teams are working hard! In a place called Deqen County, they rescued 138 people who were stuck and helped 331 others get to safe places.

Weather experts say more rain is coming, so everyone needs to be careful. With lots of rain, there’s a higher chance of landslides and floods.

Let’s hope the rain stops soon and everyone stays safe! 🌈
