๐ฅ Wildfires are burning across North Dakota! Over the past few days, brave firefighters and community members have been battling at least 16 wildfires in the state. One of the biggest fires is in the Turtle Mountain area, near the border with Canada.
Dry and windy weather has made it hard to stop the fires. Much of North Dakota hasn’t had enough rain, making the grass and trees very dry and easy to burn. ๐ฌ๏ธ๐พ
Heroes in Action
Firefighters from the North Dakota Forest Service and local fire departments are working hard to put out the flames. Even the National Guard is helping! Their Black Hawk helicopters are dropping water to save homes. ๐๐ง
People living on the Turtle Mountain Reservation are joining in too. They grabbed buckets and hoses to fight the fires and protect their neighborhoods. ๐๏ธ๐ค
Staying Safe
About ten families had to leave their homes to stay safe. Thanks to everyone’s efforts, only one empty mobile home was lost, and nobody was hurt. ๐
How Did the Fires Start?
The fires might have started by accident. Sometimes, sparks from burning trash can escape and start fires in dry grass. It’s a reminder to be very careful with fire, especially when it’s dry and windy! ๐ฅ๐ซ
Coming Together
Communities are supporting each other during this tough time. Local businesses are helping out, and firefighters from as far as Montana and South Dakota have come to assist. That’s teamwork! ๐ชโค๏ธ
What Can You Do?
If you live in an area where wildfires can happen, always follow safety rules. Don’t play with matches or lighters, and tell an adult if you see a fire starting. Together, we can keep our communities safe! ๐
