China’s Big Green Wall: Fighting Deserts and Growing Forests! 🌳🏜️
Hi friends! Have you ever heard of deserts? 🏜️ They’re places where there’s very little water, and not many plants can grow. Sometimes, deserts can get bigger and spread to new areas. This is called desertification.
China has been working really hard to stop deserts from spreading. They’re planting millions of trees to keep the land green and healthy! 🌳🌲
Since 2023, China has made a lot of progress. They’ve saved over 5 million hectares of land from turning into desert. That’s like saving an area bigger than 7 million soccer fields! 😲⚽
This big project is called the Three-North Shelterbelt Forest Program, but some people call it China’s “Great Green Wall.” It’s the world’s largest tree-planting project!
By planting trees, China is not only stopping the deserts but also helping local people. In places like Inner Mongolia, over 200,000 people got jobs planting trees and taking care of forests. They earned money and helped the Earth at the same time! 💰🌍
China’s Minister of Natural Resources, Mr. Guan Zhi’ou, says they’re also building solar power plants and roads that help people and protect the environment. ☀️🚗
All these efforts help make sure there’s enough good land to grow food. China wants to keep at least 120 million hectares of farmland. That’s super important for feeding everyone! 🍚🥦
