African negotiators meet in Kenya to promote climate justice

African Leaders Unite in Kenya to Fight for Climate Justice 🌍

Hey there! Did you know that over 70 important people from different African countries just met up in Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya? πŸ‡°πŸ‡ͺ They came together to talk about climate justice and how to protect our planet! 🌍

These leaders are called negotiators, which means they work together to find solutions that everyone can agree on. They want to make sure Africa’s voice is heard when the world talks about climate change.

The meeting lasted for two days and included people from 35 African countries! That’s a lot of teamwork. 🀝 They discussed big topics like how to help people affected by climate change, finding money to fight it, and making plans to adapt to changes in the environment.

Ali Mohamed, who is a special climate envoy of Kenya, said that this meeting was really important because they’re getting ready for even bigger meetings like COP29 in Azerbaijan next year and COP30 in Brazil. 🌎

Harsen Nyambe, a director at the African Union Commission, said that Africa can’t just sit back when it comes to climate change. They want to be leaders in creating a green economy, which means making money in ways that don’t hurt the environment! πŸ’š

They also talked about supporting something called the Loss and Damage Fund. This is a fund to help people who have lost their homes or livelihoods because of climate disasters like floods or droughts. They want to make sure that there’s enough money to help everyone who needs it.

Isn’t it awesome to see so many people working together to take care of our Earth? Maybe one day, you’ll be part of making a difference too! 🌟
