On Tuesday, a strong earthquake shook the island nation of Vanuatu, which is in the South Pacific Ocean. The earthquake was so strong, scientists measured it as a magnitude 7.3! That’s pretty big!
The earthquake happened near Vanuatu’s capital city, Port Vila. Because of the quake, many buildings were damaged, and some people got hurt, and sadly, some lost their lives.

Right now, the people in Vanuatu are working hard to help each other. The local government is rescuing people who might be trapped under broken buildings. 🛠️
Electricity is back in the city center, but many places still don’t have power. Water is starting to come back too. Most supermarkets are closed, but some stores are open and helping by selling water and food like biscuits. 🍪💧
