Heavy Rains Bring Floods to Kenya 🌧️
Hey everyone! Have you ever seen really heavy rain? 🌧️ In Kenya, a country in East Africa, they’ve been having LOTS of rain lately, and it’s causing some big problems.
What Happened in Mombasa?
On Monday, in a city called Mombasa, five people sadly lost their lives when a wall fell down because of the heavy rain. 😢 The rain was so strong that it made the wall collapse, which is very dangerous.
Flood Warnings and Rising Rivers
The government had warned people about the floods just two days before. The rain has been so heavy that rivers are overflowing! 🌊 This means that water spills over the riverbanks and can flood homes and streets.
People Affected by the Floods
Because of the floods, hundreds of people have lost their homes and had to move to safer places. Imagine if your house was filled with water—that’s what’s happening to many families in Kenya right now. 🏠🚫
Why Is It Raining So Much?
Kenya usually has a rainy season that started in October and is expected to end later this month. But this year, there’s more rain than usual. 🌧️☔

Earlier this year, Kenya also had heavy rains that caused a lot of problems. Between March and June, more than 300 people died, and many were injured or went missing because of floods. Over 293,200 people had to leave their homes. That’s like filling up a big sports stadium several times! 🏟️
