Hey there! โ๏ธ Did you know that while some parts of China are getting warmer, the Northeast is having a big snowstorm? Let’s find out what’s happening!
Snowy Surprise in Northeast China
In Northeast China, places like Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces are seeing lots and lots of snow. Some areas are having heavy snow or even blizzards (that’s a really big snowstorm with lots of wind ๐จ๏ธ๐จ).
In a city called Hegang in Heilongjiang province, they got nearly 50 millimeters of snow in just one day! That’s a new record for them in November. The snow was so deep, it reached almost half a meter high (that’s about as tall as a Golden Retriever ๐)!
Another city, Heihe, had the deepest snow they’ve ever had since they started keeping track in 1959. That’s over 60 years ago!
Warmer Weather Elsewhere
Meanwhile, other parts of China are getting warmer. In central northern China, temperatures are going up to 10 degrees Celsius (that’s about 50 degrees Fahrenheit ๐ก๏ธ). In southern China, it’s even warmer, with temperatures reaching over 20 degrees Celsius (around 68 degrees Fahrenheit).
Staying Safe in the Snow
Because of all the snow, people are working hard to keep everyone safe. Traffic police are checking the roads every 30 kilometers to make sure they’re not too slippery. Power companies are using drones (flying robots ๐) to check power lines so the electricity stays on.
School Closings and Snow Fun
In some places, schools have closed to keep kids safe from the blizzard. Farmers are protecting their greenhouses so their plants stay warm and safe. One farmer named Dong Zhi prepared heating blocks and special coverings for his plants. He said, “Though it’s snowing heavily outside, I feel very secure.”
More Snow on the Way
The weather forecast says more snow is coming to Northeast China, and temperatures might drop even more! ๐ฌ๏ธโ๏ธ
Did You Know?
China is a really big country with lots of different weather at the same time! While one part can be snowy, another can be warm and sunny. Pretty cool, right?
