COP29: China calls for 'common but differentiated responsibilities'

Countries Unite at COP29 to Fight Climate Change 🌍

Hey there! Have you heard about COP29? It’s a big meeting where leaders from around the world get together to talk about how to protect our planet from climate change!

The 2024 UN Climate Change Conference, also known as COP29, just wrapped up in Baku, Azerbaijan. After working really hard (over 30 hours longer than planned!), the countries agreed on new plans to help developing countries fight climate change.

Working Together

China, one of the countries at the conference, said that everyone needs to work together to protect the Earth. They talked about something called \”common but differentiated responsibilities\”. This means that while all countries should help, some countries have more resources and can do more to fight climate change.

The Paris Agreement

They also discussed the Paris Agreement, which is a big promise countries made in 2015 to keep our planet from getting too hot. China wants everyone to stick to this agreement and make sure we’re all doing our part.

China’s Role

Chinese delegates (people who represent China) worked hard in the meetings. They helped make sure everyone could agree and find solutions. Isn’t it cool that countries are working together to protect our planet? 🌟

Why It Matters

Climate change is when the Earth’s climate gets warmer or changes in other ways because of things people do, like burning fuels that release gases into the air. This can lead to problems like rising sea levels, stronger storms, and more.

By working together, countries can help reduce the effects of climate change and make the world a better place for all of us!
