Have you ever heard of houses that look like giant donuts? 🍩 In southeastern China’s Fujian Province, there are amazing ancient buildings called Yongding Tulou, also known as earth buildings! 🏠🌍
These unique structures were built over 700 years ago by the Hakka people, a group known for their rich culture and traditions. The Tulou are made from packed earth, wood, and stone, and can be round or square. Some are so big that they can have up to 800 rooms inside! Imagine living in a house that can fit your entire school! 🏫
Yongding Tulou has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. This means they are protected because they are important to everyone in the world! UNESCO picks places like the Great Wall of China and the Pyramids of Egypt to be World Heritage Sites. Isn’t that cool? 🌟
These incredible buildings also inspired the settings in the popular Chinese animated movie “Big Fish & Begonia“. If you love movies with magical worlds, you might want to check it out! 🎬✨
So, next time you think of castles, remember the amazing Yongding Tulou in China. Maybe one day, you’ll get to visit and see these earth castles yourself! ✈️💖
