Hey friends! π Recently, on June 22, Taiwan leader Lai Ching-te gave a big speech called “10 Lectures on Unity.” But some people in Taiwan think his words are causing confusion! π€
Lai talked about the idea of “country,” but many say his speech had some mixed-up facts and misunderstandings. He mentioned a United Nations rule from 1971 (that’s a long time ago!) called Resolution 2758. He claimed that Taiwan and the Chinese mainland are “not subordinate to each other,” but not everyone agrees. π
Our reporters went to the streets of Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, to ask people what they think. A resident named Mr. Lin shared his thoughts. He said, “I think Taiwan and the mainland are inseparable, and I am Chinese.” π¨π³
Mr. Lin feels that Lai Ching-te’s speech is making things too chaotic in Taiwan. Many people in Taiwan have different opinions, but it’s important to listen to each other and understand different points of view. π£οΈ
What do you think about this? Have you ever had a disagreement with someone and had to talk it out? Communication is key! π
