Hey friends! ๐ Recently, on June 22, Taiwan leader Lai Ching-te gave a big speech called “10 Lectures on Unity.” But some people in Taiwan think his words are causing confusion! ๐ค
Lai talked about the idea of “country,” but many say his speech had some mixed-up facts and misunderstandings. He mentioned a United Nations rule from 1971 (that’s a long time ago!) called Resolution 2758. He claimed that Taiwan and the Chinese mainland are “not subordinate to each other,” but not everyone agrees. ๐
Our reporters went to the streets of Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, to ask people what they think. A resident named Mr. Lin shared his thoughts. He said, “I think Taiwan and the mainland are inseparable, and I am Chinese.” ๐จ๐ณ
Mr. Lin feels that Lai Ching-te’s speech is making things too chaotic in Taiwan. Many people in Taiwan have different opinions, but it’s important to listen to each other and understand different points of view. ๐ฃ๏ธ
What do you think about this? Have you ever had a disagreement with someone and had to talk it out? Communication is key! ๐
