On Sunday, lots of people—thousands, actually!—went out into the streets to protest. They were upset because President Donald Trump sent the National Guard to the city. 🪖
The National Guard is a special part of the military that helps in emergencies. But when they showed up, some people felt scared and angry.
This was the third day in a row that people were protesting. They were showing how they feel about the government’s new immigration rules. Immigration is when people move from one country to another to live there.
To try to make the crowd go away, the National Guard and some other agents used things like tear gas and smoke grenades. 😢💨 Tear gas makes your eyes hurt and makes it hard to breathe. It’s not fun at all!
Some people got hurt during all of this, and even some journalists—people who report the news—were hit. A reporter from CGTN was right there in the middle of everything and got some amazing footage! 🎥
