U.S. President Donald Trump said on March 3rd: ‘Tomorrow, tariffs, 25 percent on Canada and 25 percent on Mexico, and that will start. So what they are going to have to do is build their car plants and other things in the United States.’
This means he wants companies to build more things inside the United States instead of in other countries.
In Canada, people are worried about these tariffs. Some Canadians think that these tariffs won’t just hurt Canada, but they might also hurt the United States. One person said, ‘This policy will not really harm Canadian producers and farmers, but rather they will probably harm the American people because they will be the ones paying the price of this tariff.’
Tariffs can make goods more expensive, which can affect people in both countries. It’s important for countries to work together and find solutions that help everyone!
