On a quiet Tuesday morning at 9:05 a.m., a powerful earthquake shook Dingri County in the city of Xigaze, located in southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region. The magnitude-6.8 earthquake caused significant damage, with at least 126 people confirmed dead and 188 others injured as of Tuesday night.
Among those who experienced this frightening event was a driver named Lyu Yuhong. Lyu works for the China Railway Design Group Co., Ltd. in Lhasa. When the earthquake struck, he felt the ground tremble beneath his feet.
“The situation at the earthquake site is dire,” Lyu recalls. “Fortunately, there were no casualties in the village we went to.”
Instead of panicking, Lyu decided to help. He volunteered to assist in the earthquake relief efforts, using his skills to reach affected areas and bring supplies.
Helping others during a disaster isn’t easy, but brave people like Lyu make a big difference! 🚒❤️
Earthquakes can be scary, and they happen when the Earth’s crust moves suddenly. It’s important to know what to do during an earthquake: drop, cover, and hold on!
We can all learn from Lyu’s courage and kindness. Maybe one day, we can help others in need too! 🤝
