A Musical Adventure Across Cultures!
Hey there, music lovers! 🎵 Have you ever wondered what happens when two ancient cultures come together through music? Well, meet Cristina Galietto, a young and talented classical guitarist from Naples, Italy. 🇮🇹
Cristina loves music more than anything. She plays the classical guitar, which was popular in royal courts during the Renaissance. Recently, she traveled all the way to China 🇨🇳 to share her music and learn new things!
The Journey to China
Thanks to China’s 144-hour visa-free transit policy, Cristina could visit and explore China easily. She arrived in Cixi City, Ningbo, in Zhejiang Province. This place is famous as the starting point of the ancient “maritime ceramic road” and the home of Mi-se porcelain, also known as celadon porcelain.
Discovering Celadon Music
Did you know that in ancient China, people made musical instruments out of porcelain? It’s true! Just like the classical guitar was a special instrument in Europe, celadon porcelain instruments were played in Chinese courts.
Cristina met with the Celadon Ou Music Art Troupe, a group of musicians who play these beautiful porcelain instruments. Together, they decided to try something amazing!
A Musical First: “O Sole Mio”
They combined the classical guitar with celadon porcelain instruments to perform the famous Neapolitan song “O Sole Mio” (which means “My Sunshine” ☀️ in Italian). Can you imagine how wonderful that sounded?
This was the first time ever in musical history that these two instruments played together. It’s like two worlds meeting through the universal language of music!
Building Bridges Through Music
Cristina’s adventure shows how music can bring people together, no matter where they’re from. Just like Marco Polo, the famous Italian explorer from 700 years ago, Cristina is helping to connect East and West.
By sharing their music, Cristina and her new Chinese friends are keeping ancient traditions alive and creating new ones. Isn’t that inspiring?
A Bright Future Ahead
As we look forward to important anniversaries in 2024—like the 75th year since the founding of modern China and the 20th anniversary of China and Italy’s partnership—stories like Cristina’s remind us how important friendship and cultural exchange are.
Who knows? Maybe one day you’ll make your own musical discoveries and build bridges across cultures! 🎶🌏
