The Jewish New Year, called Rosh Hashanah, is usually a time of joy and celebration in Israel. But this year, things felt different for many people living in Tel Aviv.

On October 1st, missiles hit Israel, causing worry and fear among the residents. We spoke to some local teens to find out how they’re feeling.

“I was really scared when I heard the sirens,” said Yosi, a 15-year-old student. “Instead of celebrating, we were worried about our safety.”

Zeev, a 14-year-old who loves engineering, shared, “This year’s Rosh Hashanah doesn’t feel the same. It’s hard to enjoy the festivities when there’s so much happening.”

Even though times are tough, many young people in Tel Aviv are staying strong. They hope for peace and look forward to better days ahead.
