Guess who just visited China for the first time? π€ It’s the legendary Japanese animation director, Shinichiro Watanabe! He’s the genius behind some of your favorite anime like “Cowboy Bebop” and “Samurai Champloo”. How cool is that? π
During his trip, Watanabe was totally wowed by China’s amazing food. He said, “Chinese soup is fantastic, truly impressive.” π But it wasn’t just the yummy food that caught his attention. He was super impressed by the energy and creativity of China’s animation industry! π₯β¨
Watanabe is a big fan of hand-drawn animation. Even though lots of movies and shows are using 3D technology these days, he believes hand-drawn animation is still special. He encouraged young artists by saying, “If someone has a dream of becoming a hand-drawn animator, or wants to complete a work using hand-drawing, then I highly recommend they pursue this path. Don’t hesitate; take that crucial first step! I firmly believe that hand-drawn animation will not die out.” ποΈβ€οΈ
He even mentioned that he’s looking forward to working with Chinese animators in the future. Maybe we’ll see some awesome collaborations soon! π€©
So, if you love drawing or making animations, keep going! Who knows, maybe one day you’ll create the next big hit that both Watanabe and the world will love! π
