Have you ever tried growing your own vegetables? ๐ฑ Meet Ms. Ren, a teacher from China who traveled all the way to the island nation of Tonga to help students learn about farming!
When Ms. Ren first arrived at Tonga College in 2020, there weren’t many tools or equipment for farming. Students had to carry buckets to water their plants! ๐ฎ But soon, thanks to help from China, things started to change.
In 2021, they got new equipment like solar-powered water wells (which use the sun to get water!), water storage towers, and machines to help with planting and watering. This made farming much easier and more fun for everyone! โ๏ธ๐ฐ
Ms. Ren and her team taught the students how to grow vegetables using these new tools. The vegetables they grew were shared with teachers, the school’s cafeteria, and even the Ministry of Education! Sometimes, students took veggies home to share with their families. ๐ฅ๐
Over three years, nearly 300 students learned all about farming from Ms. Ren. The King of Tonga even thanked them for their hard work! ๐
Ms. Ren loves Tonga so much that she’s going back again this August! She and her team will bring more farming machines and teach even more people how to grow plants. “I miss the students, the people, and the sea there,” she said. ๐ฅฐ๐
Isn’t it amazing how people from different countries can work together and help each other learn new things? Maybe one day, you’ll grow your own garden too! ๐ป
