Ancient characters from silk fabrics revived in daily life video poster

From Silk to Screens: Ancient Characters Turned into New Font! πŸ–₯️✍️

Hey there! Guess what? 🧐 Archaeologists in China made an amazing discovery! They found ancient writings on silk fabrics from over 2,000 years ago, during the Han Dynasty. That’s like super old! 😲

But here’s the cool part: these old characters are being brought back to life on computers! πŸ’» How did they do it? Well, a team from the Hunan Provincial Museum and the Hunan Malanshan Innovation Center for Culture Digitalization worked together.

First, they took super high-resolution pictures of the silk manuscripts. πŸ“· They ended up with a HUGE database of 228,700 images and 3,400 3D models! That’s a lot of pictures! πŸ“š

Then, using special computer programs and even some artificial intelligence (that’s when computers can learn and do smart things πŸ€–), they created a new font called Mawangdui New Han Clerical. This font has around 5,000 characters! πŸ“

Zhang Zhun, who led the project, said they hope this new font will help everyone get excited about calligraphy (that’s the art of beautiful handwriting) and the culture of the Han Dynasty. πŸ–‹οΈβœ¨

And the best part? The font will be available for everyone to useβ€”for free! So you can try writing with characters that are thousands of years old! How cool is that? 😎

This project shows how ancient history can meet modern technology to create something awesome. Maybe next time you type on your computer, you might be using characters from ancient silk! πŸ–₯οΈπŸ“œ
