Wine and Tie-Dye: A Colorful Women’s Day in Yinchuan 🎨
In Yinchuan, a city in northwest China, nearly 50 women had a super fun time celebrating International Women’s Day! 😊
They gathered at a special workshop to do tie-dyeing, but with a twist—they used red wine as the dye! 🍷 Isn’t that cool?
Tie-dyeing is a traditional craft that’s been around for hundreds of years. It involves tying up fabric and dyeing it to create amazing patterns. Lately, tie-dyeing has become popular again, especially among young people.
Using red wine gave the fabrics rich colors and unique textures. Each piece was one-of-a-kind!
“For my first time trying tie-dyeing, I never imagined wine could be used this way!” said one participant, Yan Ru. “This experience has helped me appreciate traditional culture even more.”
Yinchuan is famous for its wine grapes. The east foothill of Helan Mountain in Yinchuan is known as a “golden zone” for growing wine grapes. It’s one of China’s top regions for producing high-quality wines.
Combining wine and tie-dyeing made this Women’s Day celebration extra special. The women not only learned about a traditional craft but also got to experience the beauty of their local culture.
