Beijing E-Town to host world's first humanoid robot half marathon

Robots Join the Race: World’s First Humanoid Robot Half Marathon in Beijing E-Town!

Get ready for an amazing race where robots and humans hit the track together! 🤖🏃‍♂️

On April 13, Beijing’s Economic-Technological Development Area, also known as Beijing E-Town, is hosting something super cool—the world’s first humanoid robot half marathon!

What’s Happening?

Humanoid robots will start alongside human runners, following the same route but on a separate track. Don’t worry, safety comes first! There will be iron barriers and green spaces to keep both runners and robots safe.

How Do the Robots Race?

The robots have to look like humans and walk or run on two legs—no wheels allowed! They can be controlled by people, partly controlled by computers, or even think on their own (that’s called fully autonomous!).

Race Rules

The robots have about 3 hours and 30 minutes to finish the race. If they run out of power, they can swap batteries or even be replaced by another robot, just like a relay race! But here’s the catch—each time they do this, they get a 10-minute penalty. The winners are decided based on their finishing time and how many substitutions they made.

Why Is This Exciting?

Last year, robots cheered for runners at the start and finish lines. This year, they’re actually joining the race! It’s a big step in combining technology and sports. Plus, it’s a sneak peek before the World Humanoid Robot Games and the 2025 World Robot Conference.

Join the Fun!

This event shows how humans and robots can work—and run—together. Maybe one day, you’ll be designing or racing robots too! Are you excited? We sure are! 🥳
