Way back in 1971, something amazing happened. Players from China and the United States used Ping-Pong to start building a friendship between the two countries. This was called “Ping-Pong Diplomacy.” Now, 54 years later, they’re still celebrating! 🌟
At the event in Las Vegas, players from both countries came together to play friendly matches and share tips and tricks. Even some world champions joined in! 🤩 Local kids and table tennis fans got to play with their idols, too. How cool is that?
Chinese Consul General in San Francisco, Zhang Jianmin, said that the spirit of Ping-Pong Diplomacy reminds us how powerful people-to-people connections can be. It shows that talking and playing together helps us understand each other better. 🤝
Wang Liqin, president of the Chinese Table Tennis Association and a two-time Olympic gold medalist, invited young American players to visit China for more games and fun! 🗺️ He hopes to keep strengthening the bonds of friendship.
