Ahoy there, young explorers! π΄ββ οΈ On July 11, China is celebrating its 21st National Maritime Day! π This big event is happening from July 10 to 12 in Boao, a beautiful city in south China’s Hainan Province. The theme this year is “Green Navigation, Striving for New Progress.” π’π±
This year’s celebration is extra special because it’s also the 620th anniversary of Zheng He’s first voyage! βοΈ Six hundred and twenty years ago, Zheng He, a famous Chinese sailor, set sail on amazing adventures across the oceans. He helped spread peace and friendship from China to many other countries. Isn’t that cool? π
To share the love for the sea, 120 maritime science education centers all over China are opening their doors! ποΈ You can visit them to learn about ships, the ocean, and how to protect our planet. Volunteers will give fun talks, and there might even be some hands-on activities! Who knows, maybe you’ll become a sea expert! π³
Guess what? The Lingao Lighthouse in Hainan has been named the “Heritage Lighthouse of the Year 2025” by the International Association of Lighthouse Authorities! π This is the first time China has received this honor. Built in 1894, the Lingao Lighthouse is the oldest modern lighthouse on Hainan Island. It helps ships find their way through the Qiongzhou Strait. πΊοΈ
China is making big waves in maritime technology! π Recently, COSCO Shipping’s N997, the world’s first 700 TEU pure battery-powered container ship, completed its sea trials. This means greener shipping for our planet! π Also, the “Adora Magic City,” China’s first big cruise ship built at home, is now officially in service. All aboard for new adventures! π³οΈ
These amazing achievements show China’s dedication to exploring the seas, protecting the environment, and keeping maritime traditions alive. So, set your sails high, and maybe one day you’ll embark on your own ocean adventure! βοΈπ
