Hey kids! Guess what? Over 700 young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait met in Beijing on Thursday for the awesome Cross-Straits Youth Summit! π
This big event brings together youngsters from different places to share ideas, make new friends, and have fun. π At the opening ceremony, Mr. Song Tao, who helps with Taiwan affairs in China’s government, told everyone that young people play a super important role in making the nation better. He encouraged them to work together and enjoy the benefits of their efforts. πͺ
He also asked them to say “No!” to any ideas that might split people apart and to focus on building strong connections. π«
Mr. Ma Ying-jeou, who used to be the chairman of the Kuomintang (a big political party), sent a video message. He cheered on the young folks to keep talking to each other, learn new things, and help create a bright future for all Chinese people. π
During the summit, there will be cool forums and an exhibition showing off the latest in science, technology, and culture. Sounds like an exciting time! π
