Hey there! Have you ever wondered how cities around the world can work together to make our digital lives even cooler? Well, guess what? Beijing just launched a big global team-up with more than 40 cities from all over the planet! 🌍
On Wednesday, during the Global Digital Economy Conference 2025, Beijing and cities from Europe, North America, the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Latin America created the Global Digital Economy Cities Alliance! That’s a fancy name, but it basically means they’re joining forces to make digital technology better for everyone. 💻🤝
So, what’s the plan? They want to work together on important things like:
- Digital Infrastructure 🏗️ – Building better internet networks and systems.
- Cross-Border Data Governance 🌐 – Sharing information safely between countries.
- AI Ethics 🧠 – Making sure artificial intelligence is used responsibly.
- Smart City Applications 🏙️ – Using tech to make our cities smarter and cooler places to live!
Before this, in 2023, Beijing started a plan called the Global Digital Economy Partner City Cooperation Initiative. They worked with partner cities to make six action plans for 2024. Now, with this new alliance, they’re taking it to the next level! 🔝
This awesome alliance is supported by big international organizations like the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, the International Telecommunication Union, and the International Trade Centre. 🏢🌟
The conference where all this happened is organized by the Beijing municipal government, the Cyberspace Administration of China, the National Data Administration, Xinhua News Agency, and the United Nations Development Programme. It runs through July 5 and includes lots of cool events like an opening ceremony, six main forums, and many special sessions. Over 1,000 people are attending! 🎉
