Scholars, experts call on Japan to confront wartime history

Learning from the Past: Scholars Urge Japan to Remember History

Hey there! Did you know that learning about history can help us build a better future? πŸ“šβœ¨

Recently, scholars and experts from China, Japan, the United States, and other places came together to talk about the importance of remembering World War II. They gathered at a special event held on June 29 at Changchun Normal University in China and Musashino University in Japan.

These scholars shared stories and historical items to remind everyone about the events that happened during the war. They believe it’s important for Japan to face up to its past actions to promote peace and understanding. 🌏🀝

Tamiko Kanzaki, who used to work as a translator for Japan’s national broadcaster NHK, shared her experiences as a child during that time. She grew up in a place called “Manchukuo” and was taught military ideas at school. She spoke about how important it is to remember the mistakes made in the past.

Yoichi Jomaru, a former journalist, talked about how some media in Japan didn’t fully report on certain events like the Nanjing Massacre. He encouraged the media to tell the whole truth so that everyone can learn from history.

At the event, there was also an exhibit showing artifacts from the war, like letters and items from that time. These “silent witnesses” help us reflect on what happened and how we can prevent such things in the future. πŸ•°οΈ

Li Suzhen, an important member of the Sino-Japanese Oral History and Culture Research Association, said that remembering history isn’t about blaming anyone. Instead, it’s about learning from the past to promote global peace and friendship. ✌️❀️

By understanding what happened before, we can all work together to make sure our world is a peaceful place for everyone. So let’s keep learning and growing together! 🌟
