Hey space fans! ๐ Have you heard the exciting news from China? They have a space mission called Tianwen-2, and it just sent back some amazing pictures of Earth and the Moon! ๐๐
Tianwen-2 is a special spacecraft called a “probe,” which means it’s exploring space to learn new things. Recently, it took a photo of Earth when it was about 590,000 kilometers awayโthat’s like going around the world almost 15 times! It also snapped a picture of the Moon from the same distance.
The cameras on Tianwen-2 are working great, and scientists back on Earth are super happy with the pictures they’ve received. They’ve been processing the images to learn more about our planet and its neighbor, the Moon.
As of now, Tianwen-2 has been traveling smoothly in space for over a month, already reaching more than 12 million kilometers away from Earth! That’s really farโit’s like going to the Moon and back over 30 times.
But that’s not all! Tianwen-2 has a big mission ahead. It’s going to chase an asteroid called 2016HO3, which is a space rock that orbits near Earth. The plan is to collect samples from itโkind of like bringing back souvenirs! Later, it will visit a comet named 311P in the asteroid belt, which is even farther away.
This adventure will take about 10 years, and scientists hope to learn a lot about how asteroids and the solar system formed a long time ago. Pretty cool, right?
Space exploration helps us understand the universe better, and who knows? Maybe one day you’ll be part of a mission like Tianwen-2! ๐
