🎬 Lights, camera, Shanghai! The 27th Shanghai International Film Festival Belt and Road Film Week wrapped up with a bang, and filmmakers from all over the world had an amazing time exploring the city’s wonders.
Exploring Xinchang Ancient Town 🏮
Filmmakers visited the beautiful Xinchang Ancient Town, one of the filming locations for director Ang Lee’s famous movie “Lust, Caution”. They enjoyed traditional Suzhou pingtan opera, sipped delicious Chinese tea, tasted yummy pastries, and even learned about traditional Chinese medicine! They made their own herbal sachets and took lots of photos of the stunning scenery.
Filmmakers Share Their Experiences 🌟
Many filmmakers were visiting China for the first time. Mexican director Urzula Barba Hopfner said, “This is my first time in China. China is stunning, and I can feel the openness and inclusiveness of the people here towards different cultures.”
Hungarian director Balint Szimler was amazed by the music. “This is my first time in Shanghai, everything feels fresh to me. The music we just heard was utterly fascinating,” he shared.
German director Julia Roesler tried making a Chinese herbal sachet. She said, “The old architecture and musical culture here are both captivating. Making a Chinese sachet was a wonderful opportunity for me to understand the differences between Chinese medical culture and Western medical culture.”
