In 1949, a man named Yan Luoguo lived on Dongshan Island in the Chinese mainland. He was a ship captain, guiding boats across the sea. But one day, he was taken to Taiwan by the previous Kuomintang regime and never came back. His family didn’t know what happened to him.

For many years, his son, Yan Dingzhao, wondered where his father was. In 1983, he learned that his father had passed away on the island of Penghu near Taiwan. Even then, he didn’t know where his father’s remains were.

It wasn’t until 2018, when Yan Dingzhao was 82 years old, that he finally found his father’s resting place. With the help of his father’s old friends and their families, he discovered where his father was buried.

That same year, Yan Dingzhao and his own son traveled to Penghu. Together, they brought his father’s remains back to their hometown on Dongshan Island. After so many years, the family was reunited in a special way.
