Hey ocean lovers! 🌊 Did you know that Costa Rica, a small country in Central America, is doing big things to help our oceans? Let’s dive in and discover how they’re making a splash in ocean conservation! 🐠🐢
Hosting a Big Ocean Conference!
From June 9 to 13, Costa Rica and France are hosting the United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice, France. This special meeting brings people from all over the world to talk about how to protect and use our oceans wisely. The theme is “Accelerating action and mobilizing all actors to conserve and sustainably use the ocean.” That’s a fancy way of saying “Let’s all work together, and fast, to save our oceans!” 🏄♀️
Costa Rica’s Amazing Marine Life
Costa Rica is famous for its beautiful beaches and super cool ocean animals. From the Pacific Ocean to the Caribbean Sea, its waters are home to creatures like colorful fish, playful dolphins, and even sharks and sea turtles! 🐬🦈
One of the most famous places is Cocos Island, a magical island full of wildlife. It’s so special that it’s been called a treasure of the ocean! 🏝️
Protecting Ocean Friends
Costa Rica cares a lot about the ocean and the animals that live there. They’ve made big areas of the ocean into protected zones where sea creatures can live safely. 🛡️
They help migratory species, which are animals that travel long distances, like sharks and sea turtles. These animals need protection because sometimes they face dangers like fishing nets or pollution. Costa Rica makes sure they have safe places to swim and grow. 🐢❤️
Why It Matters
The ocean is super important for our planet. It gives us air to breathe, food to eat, and it’s home to amazing animals! But things like pollution and overfishing can harm the ocean.
Costa Rica is showing the world how to take care of the ocean. By protecting marine life and promoting sustainable practices, they’re helping ensure that the ocean stays healthy for future generations—that means us and kids younger than us too! 🌍🌟
What Can You Do?
- Learn about ocean animals and why they’re important.
- Reduce plastic use—plastics can end up in the ocean and harm animals.
- Share what you learn with friends and family.
- Support ocean-friendly practices and programs.
Remember, no matter how young or old you are, you can make a difference! Let’s be ocean heroes together! 💙🌊
