On Wednesday, a strong earthquake shook the waters near the Taiwan region! π The quake was a magnitude 5.8, which is pretty big!

What is an earthquake? π€ An earthquake is when the Earth’s crust shakes because of movements deep underground. This can happen when giant pieces of the Earth’s surface, called tectonic plates, move and rub against each other.
Why do earthquakes happen near the Taiwan region? The area around the Taiwan region is near the boundary of two tectonic plates, which means earthquakes can happen there.
Thankfully, there have been no reports of damage or injuries so far. π Earthquakes can be scary, but scientists are always working to understand them better!
Learning about earthquakes helps us stay safe and prepared. Stay curious and keep learning! π
