UHV project launched, sending power from Xinjiang to Chongqing

China’s Super Electric Highway: Xinjiang Powers Up Chongqing!

Have you ever wondered how electricity travels? ⚡️ In China, something amazing just happened! Electricity from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region zoomed all the way to Chongqing Municipality, which is 2,260 kilometers away. That’s like sending power from London to Rome!

Thanks to a special project called the ±800 kV ultra-high voltage (UHV) direct current transmission line, clean energy like wind and solar power from Xinjiang can now reach the bustling city of Chongqing. But what does all that mean?

Ultra-High Voltage (UHV) means the electricity is sent at super high voltages, so less power is lost along the way. Imagine whispering into a super long tube and still being heard at the other end—that’s how efficient it is!

Xinjiang is full of sunny deserts and windy places, making it perfect for generating renewable energy 🌞🌬️. But there aren’t enough people there to use all that power. On the other hand, Chongqing is a big city with over 30 million people who need lots of electricity.

By building this electric highway, over 36 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity can be sent each year! More than half of that is from new energy sources like wind and solar. This helps save about 6 million tonnes of coal and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by around 16 million tonnes. That’s like taking millions of cars off the road! 🚗❌

This project not only brings clean energy to where it’s needed but also helps develop the regions. It supports the people in Xinjiang and Chongqing, making life better for everyone.

China is working hard to make more of these amazing energy projects. By sharing power across the country, they’re helping the planet and building a brighter future. Isn’t that electrifying news? ⚡️🌍
