China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Lin Jian, said that countries in the Asia-Pacific region don’t need NATO. He mentioned this after a European leader suggested that NATO might get involved in Asia.

Lin Jian also talked about Taiwan. He said that Taiwan is a part of China, and issues about Taiwan are China’s own business. He didn’t like that some people were comparing Taiwan to places like Ukraine.

He said the South China Sea is peaceful right now, and countries can freely sail and fly over it. China wants to solve any disagreements by talking with the countries directly involved.
