Wow! Can you imagine over 78 million people riding trains over just a few days? 🚂 That’s what happened in the Chinese mainland during the recent Dragon Boat Festival holiday! 🐉🎉
The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional holiday in China that honors a famous poet named Qu Yuan. People celebrate by racing dragon-shaped boats and eating delicious sticky rice dumplings called zongzi. Yum! 😋
This year, the festival overlapped with International Children’s Day on June 1st. That meant lots of families decided to travel together, visiting grandparents, going on trips, and having fun! 👨👩👧👦❤️
To help everyone get where they wanted to go, the railway network in the Chinese mainland worked super hard. They ran an average of 12,142 trains every day between May 30 and June 3! 🚅 That’s almost 10% more trains than last year.
But the fun didn’t stop there. At over 1,000 train stations and on some trains, passengers joined in cool activities. They made zongzi, wove colorful bracelets, and played holiday trivia games. It was like a moving festival! 🎊🎈
The railway staff also made things easier for everyone. They improved ticketing and transfers, had better food options, and gave special help to elderly passengers, kids, and people with special needs. 🧓👦🌟
