ASEAN Leaders at Big Meeting: We Won’t Choose Sides!
Hello, friends! ๐ Have you ever had two friends who aren’t getting along, and you didn’t want to pick sides? Well, that’s kind of what’s happening with some countries right now!
At a big meeting called the Shangri-La Dialogue, leaders from countries in Southeast Asia met to talk about important things like peace and safety. The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, said that their countries don’t want to choose sides between big countries like China and the United States. Instead, they want to be friends with everyone! ๐ค
Singapore’s Defense Minister, Chan Chun Sing, agreed. He said that if they have to choose, they should choose to follow fair rules that everyone agrees on. That way, the world can be a better place for all! ๐โค๏ธ
Some people think that countries should spend more money on their military to prepare for possible problems. But others believe that working together and talking things out is the better way to keep peace. ๐๏ธ
Experts say that trying to make countries pick sides doesn’t help anyone. It’s like in school when two groups are arguing, and someone tries to force you to join one side. Wouldn’t it be better if everyone just got along?
What do you think? Should countries try to be friends with everyone and work together? Let us know! ๐
