Guess what? China has launched a new space mission called Tianwen-2! 🚀 It’s super exciting because this mission is going to collect samples from an asteroid and help us learn more about space and how our solar system was formed. 🌌
Early on Thursday morning, at 1:31 a.m. Beijing Time, a big rocket named Long March-3B blasted off from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China’s Sichuan Province. The rocket carried the Tianwen-2 probe up into space! 🌠
About 18 minutes after the launch, the Tianwen-2 spacecraft was on its way to a near-Earth asteroid called 2016HO3. This asteroid orbits close to Earth, and scientists are really curious about it. By collecting samples from it, they hope to understand more about asteroids and the early days of our solar system. 🪐
But that’s not all! Over the next ten years, Tianwen-2 will also explore a distant space object called main-belt comet 311P, which is even farther away than Mars. Isn’t that cool? 🤩
The spacecraft’s solar panels unfolded smoothly after launch, which means it’s getting power from the Sun. ☀️ The China National Space Administration (CNSA) was very happy and declared the launch a success! 🎉
