Hey kids and teens! 🎉 Guess what just happened in Tongren City, Guizhou Province? An amazing dragon boat tour kicked off the excitement for the upcoming 2025 Chinese Traditional Dragon Boat Competition! 🐲🚣♀️
On May 25, more than a hundred colorful boats gathered on the Jinjiang River. There were beautifully painted pleasure boats, cool bamboo dragon boats, and traditional dragon boats too! It was like a floating parade on the water. 🌟
The event started with three special boats leading the way, featuring awesome ethnic songs and dances. Can you imagine performers singing and dancing right on the boats? So cool! 🎶💃
Then came the thrilling “Water Gate Crossing” ritual. Drummers beat their drums loudly while paddlers rowed in rhythm. But here’s the fun part: everyone splashed water at each other! 💦 It was a joyful water fight that made everyone laugh and smile.
Dragon boat racing is a super important tradition in Tongren. It brings together people from different ethnic groups to celebrate and have fun. In fact, in 2011, this tradition was added to China’s national intangible cultural heritage list! That’s like being named a treasure of culture. 🏆
