Hey kids! Have you heard about China and some Pacific Island countries getting together for a big meeting? Let’s find out what’s happening! π
From May 28 to 29, China is hosting the Third China-Pacific Island Countries Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in the city of Xiamen, located in Fujian Province. That’s like when friends come over to your house to talk about important things! π
Who will be there?
Foreign ministers (that’s like the top people in charge of a country’s relationships with other countries) or representatives from 11 Pacific Island countries are coming to China. These countries include:
- Kiribati
- Niue
- Tonga
- Nauru
- Federated States of Micronesia
- Solomon Islands
- Vanuatu
- Papua New Guinea
- Cook Islands
- Fiji
- Samoa
Isn’t it cool how people from all these different islands are meeting together? ποΈ
Why are they meeting?
China and the Pacific Island Countries (we can call them PICs) are good friends who respect each other and want to work together. They plan to talk about how they can help each other grow and solve common problems. π€
This is the first time this meeting is happening in person in China! They will discuss lots of things, like:
- How to work together on important projects π οΈ
- How to make life better for people in their countries π
- How to deal with issues that affect everyone, like the environment πΏ
What’s the goal?
China hopes that by meeting together, they can:
- Strengthen their friendship π€
- Coordinate their efforts to develop and prosper β¨
- Build a community where everyone shares a bright future together π
Isn’t it amazing how countries can come together to make the world a better place? Maybe one day, you’ll be part of these important meetings too! πΌ
