Hey there! Have you ever wondered how robots and computers get so smart? 🤖 Well, something exciting happened in Beijing that you might want to know about!
On May 12, the Second AI Capacity Building Workshop started at Tsinghua University in Beijing. That’s a big university in China! 🇨🇳 Guess what? People from nearly 40 countries and groups like ASEAN and the African Union came together to talk about Artificial Intelligence, or AI for short.
Ma Zhaoxu, who is a vice foreign minister of China, spoke at the opening. He talked about how China’s leader, President Xi Jinping, has some great ideas called the Global AI Governance Initiative. This is all about making sure AI helps everyone in the world! 🌐
Ma Zhaoxu said we should all work together to make AI fair, open, and helpful for all people. He wants AI to be like a gift that everyone can share. 🎁 Isn’t that cool?
Amandeep Singh Gill, a big leader from the United Nations, also spoke through a video. He thinks what China is doing with AI is super important and hopes this workshop will help countries work together even more.
Chola Milambo from Zambia, another important person, said China is doing a great job helping countries in the Global South (that’s places that are still developing) learn more about AI. 🌍
This workshop is a big step in making sure the world works together on AI. The United Nations even made a special plan called Resolution A/RES/78/311 in July 2024 to encourage countries to help each other with AI. This is the first time the whole world agreed on how to build up AI skills together! 🌟
The first workshop was in Shanghai in September 2024, and now this second one in Beijing shows that everyone is serious about making AI awesome for everyone. 🎉
