China’s First Lady and Brazil’s First Lady Explore the Arts in Beijing 🎭
Guess who met up in Beijing? Peng Liyuan, the wife of China’s President Xi Jinping, and Rosangela Lula da Silva, the wife of Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva! 🇨🇳🇧🇷
They visited the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), which is a super cool place where lots of amazing shows happen. They admired the beautiful architecture inside and checked out an exhibition called “Stage of Glory” that shows off all the great things the NCPA has accomplished!
The NCPA has been a big part of bringing people from China and Brazil closer together through art and culture. For example, in 2023, artists from the NCPA went on their first South American tour to Brazil and Argentina! How awesome is that?
Peng Liyuan said that China and Brazil are both countries rich in culture, and lately they’ve been sharing and learning from each other a lot. This has helped people in both countries become better friends! 🤗
Did you know that in China, Brazilian things like capybaras (the cutest big rodents ever!), bossa nova music, samba dancing, and capoeira (a super cool martial art) are becoming really popular? And in Brazil, people are getting to know Chinese traditions like the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) and traditional Chinese medicine.
In 2022, Rio de Janeiro even made September 28th “Mandarin Day” to celebrate Chinese culture! And the Spring Festival is now an official holiday in the state of Rio de Janeiro. 🎉
Rosangela was super impressed with China’s development and amazing culture. She said she’s excited to help keep the friendship growing between Brazil and China by promoting more people-to-people and cultural exchanges!
Peng Liyuan hopes that both countries will keep up this great teamwork and bring their peoples even closer together. Isn’t it cool how art and culture can bring people from different parts of the world together? 🌏❤️
