On Wednesday, President Xi left Beijing to travel to Moscow, the capital of Russia. He’s going there to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory in the Great Patriotic War, which is what Russians call their part in World War II.
The Soviet Union was a country that existed before Russia became its own country. During World War II, they fought against Nazi Germany. The victory was a big deal, and now, 80 years later, they’re celebrating that important moment in history!
