Hey there! Did you know that the Chinese Ambassador to the U.S., Xie Feng, had some important things to say? 🗣️
On May 3, Ambassador Xie said that if the United States wants to talk with China, it should do so with respect and fairness. 🤝 He mentioned that China doesn’t want a trade war (that’s when countries put extra taxes on each other’s goods), but they’re not afraid of one either.
He spoke at an event showcasing Gansu Province, a region in northwest China known for its cool history and culture. 🏯
Ambassador Xie pointed out that in today’s world, no country can succeed all by itself. We all need to work together! 🌍 Building walls or barriers only stops us from sharing and growing together.
He also said that the United States actually benefits a lot from trading with other countries. Americans get to enjoy affordable stuff from all over the world, and the U.S. is a leader in things like finance, technology, and services. 💻💰
About the trade between China and the U.S., he said it’s balanced and helps both countries. In 2022, American companies in China made way more money than Chinese companies in the U.S.—by over $400 billion! That’s a lot of zeros! 🤑
Ambassador Xie shared that China is committed to growing steadily and opening up more to the world. Did you know that China’s economy grew by 5.4% in the first part of this year? 📈 Exports (things sold to other countries) went up too, even though there are challenges around the world.
He also talked about how more and more people are visiting China. Last year, almost 65 million people traveled there, which is 82.9% more than before! During the May Day holiday, tourism bookings jumped by 173%! 🛫🌟
