Nestled on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, the Shanghai Foundation Model Innovation Center (we can call it the SMC) is like a giant playground for artificial intelligence (AI). Since it opened in September 2023, it’s become home to nearly 400 AI companies! That’s a lot of brainpower in one place.

Imagine having a supermarket, but instead of food, it has computing power! In early 2024, the SMC opened China’s first “AI computing power supermarket” where developers can access all the resources they need to build new and exciting AI projects.
