Hey basketball fans! Guess what? The Beijing Ducks just took the lead in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) playoff semifinals! They won Game 1 against the Shanxi Loongs with a score of 102-94. π The game was super exciting! Chen Ying-Chun and Eugene German were the stars for Beijing, each scoring 23 points. That’s a lot of points! They also made amazing passes, combining for 18 assists (thatβs when a player helps another player score). Chen made 10 of those assists! π€© Zhou Qi, the big center for Beijing, came back from an injury and played off the bench (that means he didn’t start the game). He was awesome, scoring 15 points, grabbing 10 rebounds (that’s when a player catches the ball after a missed shot), and blocking two shots! Talk about a comeback! πͺ Another player, Zeng Fanbo, scored 13 points and blocked four shots. The Ducks had five players scoring over 10 points, which helped them win the game. On the Shanxi Loongs’ side, only three players scored more than 10 points, and they were all foreign players: Brandon Goodwin, Hamidou Diallo, and Trey Kell. They tried hard and even made some cool three-point shots, but it wasn’t enough this time. The game was close at first. Beijing started strong, but Shanxi fought back. By the end of the first quarter, Shanxi was ahead 27-23. But the Ducks didn’t give up! In the second quarter, they had a big run, scoring 19 points while Shanxi only scored 2! π² In the third quarter, Shanxi took the lead again with a 20-5 run. But Beijing came back once more, narrowing the gap by the end of the quarter. The fourth quarter was intense! With less than four minutes left, Beijing’s Chen made a crucial three-pointer, putting the Ducks ahead 95-93. Shanxi couldnβt score any more field goals, and Beijing secured the win! This victory gives the Beijing Ducks a 1-0 lead in the series. The next game, Game 2, will be on Tuesday. Can the Ducks keep flying high?
