Guess what? 🌟 China and Azerbaijan have just become even better friends! On Wednesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Beijing. They announced that their countries are now “comprehensive strategic partners.” That’s a big way of saying they’re going to work closely together on lots of important things! 🤝
President Xi said that China and Azerbaijan will trust each other more, work together on big projects, and help each other out in the world. China wants to support Azerbaijan in keeping their country strong and safe.
The two countries plan to team up to fight against bad things like terrorism (people who do dangerous things to scare others), extremism (extreme ideas that can lead to harm), and separatism (groups wanting to break away from their country). They also want to work together on the Belt and Road Initiative, which is a big plan to connect countries for trade and cooperation. 🌍🚂
They’ll also be sharing ideas and working together in education, culture, travel, and even among young people like you! Maybe one day you’ll meet a friend from Azerbaijan or China! 🎒✈️
President Aliyev said that Azerbaijan really appreciates China’s friendship. He also said that Azerbaijan supports the “one-China principle,” which means they agree that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China.
After their meeting, the two presidents signed important papers to show their commitment to working together. They agreed on 20 different cooperation projects, including green energy (like solar and wind power), digital economy (like online businesses), and even space exploration! 🚀
Before the big meeting, there was a special welcome ceremony. President Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan greeted President Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva. Later, they all enjoyed a welcome banquet together. 🍽️
