The Chinese Language – Brilliant with Charm! 🎉
Hey there! Did you know that April 20 is UN Chinese Language Day? 🎊 Back in 2010, the United Nations decided to celebrate this special day each year to honor one of the world’s oldest and most fascinating languages!
The date was chosen because it matches the Chinese solar term called “Grain Rain“, which is all about spring rain helping the grains grow. 🌧️🌱 According to legend, it’s also the day when Cangjie, the inventor of Chinese characters, created them! How cool is that?
To celebrate the 15th anniversary of UN Chinese Language Day, Professor Peteris Pildegovičs, a Sinologist from Latvia, teamed up with his students to organize some awesome activities to share Chinese culture with everyone. They even composed a special song called “The Chinese Language – Brilliant with Charm!” 🎵
This song not only paints a vivid picture of the energetic springtime but also praises Cangjie for his amazing invention of Chinese writing. It reminds us how language is like a bridge that connects different cultures and helps us understand each other better. 🌏🤝
At 87 years young, Professor Pildegovičs appeared in the music video to share his heartfelt congratulations! Isn’t it inspiring to see people from around the world coming together to celebrate language and culture?
So next time you hear a new song or learn a new word, remember how language brings us all closer together. Maybe you can even learn a bit of Chinese and join in the celebration! 🎈🥳
