In a village called Huashan in northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province, there’s a young woman named Chen Lili. After going to university and working in Beijing, she decided to return to her hometown. Guess what she did? She started livestreaming her rice harvest using her smartphone!
When Chen first showed her rice fields online in 2021, she got an amazing 6,000 orders in just a few hours! 😮 She realized that with just a smartphone and her stories, she could help sell her village’s rice to people all over China.
By sharing her journey from city life back to the countryside, she now has over one million followers! 🌟 But she didn’t stop there. In 2023, Chen began helping local farmers grow better rice. She promised to buy their harvest at good prices, which helped them earn more money.
One farmer, Ma Xiuying, said, “Last year, I tried growing the rice Chen suggested on half my land, and she bought it all! This year, I’m using all my land to grow it.”
Drones Delivering Tea Leaves! 🍵🚁
In a mountain village called Xigui in southwest China’s Yunnan Province, farmers are famous for their delicious Pu’er tea. But carrying heavy baskets of tea leaves down the steep mountains was hard and slow.
Now, they use drones to fly the tea leaves from the mountain to the processing center in just minutes! 🕊️ “It used to take an hour by foot, but now it takes three minutes by drone,” said tea farmer Hao Chengping. “The faster we process the leaves, the better they taste!”
Thanks to drones, the tea leaves stay fresh, and farmers waste less. A drone operator named Ye Chenxi says their drones can carry up to 50 kilograms and fly several kilometers. How cool is that?

Another tea grower, Cheng Benfu, started livestreaming how he makes tea. He shows viewers the fresh tea leaves and how to brew them. “Look at these buds just picked this morning and flown in by drone,” he tells his audience. “If you order now, we’ll ship it to you in two days!”
